How to wash your baati

Baatis are beautiful and it’s best if it's kept that way. Usually made from viscose and sometimes polyester, you must ensure to use a gentle wash cycle and cold water to avoid damage and shrinkage. Here are some further tips on how to have a perfect wash each time:

  1. Use mild detergent:

Avoid using harsh detergents, as these can damage the fabric and cause fading. It's best to use a mild detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics.

  2. Avoid bleach:

Baati dresses should not be washed with bleach, as it can cause discoloration and damage the fabric.

  3. Use a delicate cycle:

If your washing machine has a delicate cycle or a handwash cycle, use that setting to ensure a gentle wash.  Turn your baatis inside out and place in a wash bag to avoid damage in the washing machine.

  4. Avoid high spin speeds:

High spin speeds can cause shrinkage and damage to the fabric, so it's best to choose a low spin speed or no spin option if your machine has one.

  5. Hang dry:

Baati dresses should be hung to dry in a well-ventilated area to avoid shrinkage and maintain their shape. Avoid drying them in a dryer, as this can cause creases or shrinkage.  If you must use a dryer, use a low setting.

  6. Ironing:

You can iron the dress on low heat setting or use a pressing cloth to protect the fabric.

  7. Avoid harsh sunlight:

Harsh sunlight can cause discoloration. Turn the garment inside out when drying outside to preserve the colour of the fabric.

While we have provided some tips on how to wash your baatis generally, it is still a good idea to check the care label on your baati dress for specific instructions on how to wash it, as different fabric compositions may have different recommendations.
